SMB Consultants have created a simple but powerful conversion process to take your accounting exports from LightSpeed and convert them into standard import files for your Xero online accounting.

Not only can you retain all of the accounting export controls built into LightSpeed but you now have the ability to interface with Xero, one of the fastest growing online accounting packages available worldwide.

How does the LightSpeed to Xero interface work?

You run your LightSpeed database for accounting interaction in exactly the same way you would for interface to either QuickBooks or MYOB.

Your GL Accounts in LightSpeed will be changed to reflect your Xero Chart of Accounts (SMB Consultants will assist in this configuration - fill in the Enquiry Form and request a quotation).

You will export all or some of the available accounting exports:

  • Sales;
  • Payments;
  • Miscellaneous Purchases;
  • Vendors;
  • Inventory Adjustments;
  • Transfers.

Once you have signed up for the Xero interface you will launch the LightSpeed to Xero application and simply upload the files you need to convert and download the converted files. When you launch your Xero accounting package you will import these converted files just the same as you would with QuickBooks or MYOB.

International Database Capability:

The LightSpeed to Xero Connector can be used for any LightSpeed database. This includes databases setup for Canada and North American tax requirements, UK and European setups as well as the Tax Inclusive databases configured in Australia.

We even manage the different date formats available in LightSpeed as well as managing your tax treatments.

Accounts Receivable in Xero:

There are some occasions when it is desired to manage your Accounts Receivables in Xero rather than LightSpeed.

This would be particularly valuable when most of your sales out of LightSpeed are for account customers. In particular, when these account customers make payments on their account by way of direct bank transfers.

In these circumstances, the ideal and most efficient way to manage your accounts receivables is to be able to reconcile payments from customers directly from your automated bank feeds into Xero. If your accounts receivables are already in Xero, it is simple to then match your payments from your bank against outstanding accounts receivable invoices.

This connector allows you to decide, for each individual database linked, whether you wish to build the Accounts Receivables in Xero.

Key benefits of the Xero interface:

With the interface to Xero, you will be able to directly match your daily payments/receipts to your bank feed deposits. This greatly speeds up deposit reconciliation in your accounting package - a significant advantage.

From the one LightSpeed to Xero Web App you can set up the interface to one Xero account from multiple LightSpeed databases.

Where Accounts Receivables are required to be in Xero, you can create these customer cards and amounts owing as part of the import to Xero function. This will allow you to match receipts directly from your Bank Feeds against individual outstanding invoices. You will then use the powerful account receivable capability of Xero to manage your outstanding debtors.

You can utilize the Tracking Categories & Options capability of Xero to sectionalize your Xero accounts to provide location based Profit and Loss accounting.

Because you are using Xero as an online accounting package, you can perform this interface from any Internet connected location. You do not have to be at your computer that holds your accounting package's database anymore.
